Who are SARS?
Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) are an incredible service who provide specialist volunteer responders to assist the East of England Ambulance Service at the scenes of serious medical emergencies or trauma.
Christmas Tree Recycling Collection
At the end of last year SARS decided to offer a Christmas tree recycling collection service. They had a fantastic response to their offer to collect your old tree on 6th January 2021. SARS provided this service to local villages between Stowmarket and Thurston for a suggested minimum donation of £5 per tree.
This great cause is beneficial to not only the locals who are looking to get rid of their Christmas Trees. But it also helps SARS receive voluntary donations to fund their equipment and training for their clinical volunteers. They don’t currently receive any central government funding, so the money that has been raised is going to make a huge difference.
We love to help our local community
We thought it would be a great opportunity to get involved ourselves and help SARS recycle Christmas Trees at no extra cost. While they have been working hard collecting trees, we have been recycling them which in result has helped them to raise as much money as possible for their charity.
The photos you see below are the volunteer clinician’s Dr James Price, Critical Care Paramedic Jemma Varela and Joe Dowsing who helped pick up over 125 trees. All the hard work and support has led to SARS raising an outstanding amount of just over £1,800! Inspired by how much they have raised and the positive outcome overall, they are hoping to bring it back next year so stay tuned!
