November 7, 2024This year’s Dereham Cancer Care (DCC) Charity Golf Day proved to be a resounding success, raising £5,240 for the local charity.
Sponsored by SunSkips (formerly Pips Skips) and Monk Plant Hire Ltd (MPH), the Dereham Golf Club event brought together teams from across the region for a day of sport and philanthropy.
The event almost doubled the amount of money that DCC has raised so far this year. All proceeds raised will go towards supporting people affected by cancer in the local community.
Participants enjoyed golf, competitions, and a three-course meal. Each player was treated to a bacon roll with tea or coffee upon arrival, followed by a lunch of sausage and mash with peas and onion gravy, finished with a cheesecake dessert.
Teams also took part in the “Beat the Pro” competition and had the chance to win prizes in the raffle and auction. The lucky winners walked away with luxury hampers, golf equipment, and even a weekend getaway, all donated by local businesses.

SunSkips sales manager Peter Healey attended the event to show support for the worthy cause and to present raffle winners with their prizes.
He said, “It was an honour to be part of such an important event. Seeing the community come together for Dereham Cancer Care was truly inspiring.
“The funds raised will make a big difference to the lives of many local families affected by cancer, and we are proud to have contributed to that. SunSkips looks forward to continuing our partnership with this amazing charity in the future.”

Organisers expressed excitement about the success of the event and hope to continue building on this momentum in future years.
The funds raised from the event will go directly to the Dereham charity. Located in the heart of Dereham, DCC is a vital resource for cancer patients, their families, and caregivers in the community. The charity offers a welcoming space where visitors can find information, companionship, and support during difficult times. The funds will help ensure that Dereham Cancer Care can continue offering vital services such as cancer support groups, counselling, and therapeutic treatments to those in need.
