May 6, 2021We’re hiring! Drive to new horizons with SunSkips
May 14, 2021At SunSkips, we pride ourselves on making your skip hire go as smoothly as possible.
We give you a clear time for when we’re going to arrive, make sure you have any necessary permits, and we’ll even drop you an email to let you know we’re on our way.
But there are a few things you’ll need to prepare to make sure there are no problems. Here’s what you need to consider before your skip hire delivery date:
Confirm your skip collection time
When booking online, you’ll be able to provide a date for when your skip will be collected.
If you book over the phone, tell our staff when you want it picked up so we can lock in the collection time. You may decide that you want to be flexible with the time your skip is picked up, but it’s best to let us know as soon as possible so we can confirm.
Consider possible complications
Are you going to need your driveway for visitors at the weekend? Will your project require access from heavy machinery that a skip might block? If the skip is going on your drive, are you able to park your car somewhere safe that won’t require moving the skip? Could a neighbour park their car in such a way that it restricts access to the skip?
These things might not occur to you until the container is already causing logistical issues for your project, so do think about any potential problems ahead of time.
Help our drivers out
If you live in a tight lane where you think our drivers might encounter difficulties in getting your skip to your property, please let us know at the time of booking so we can make sure we’re able to find a solution before it causes delays.
Also, decide on exactly where you want your skip placed and where your waste will be coming from so we can drop it off in the optimal position.
Plan for delays
While SunSkips drivers strive to get your skip to you at the agreed time, there are always going to be unforeseen roadblocks that get in the way.
Lorries can break down, drivers get sick and road conditions change – any of which can affect your delivery or collection time. SunSkips does everything possible to avoid issues (such as leaving in plenty of time to offset traffic) and our drivers will always keep you informed of any delays.
Get your paperwork in order
If you need to keep your skip on a public road, you’ll need a permit from your local authority.
It can take up to a week or more to get this approved, and if you don’t have it, we may not be able to deliver your skip when you need it. Fees for this vary from council to council, but SunSkips can take care of it for you so you have one less thing to worry about.
If you’ve booked your skip but think there’s something our driver should be aware of, drop us a message or call 01449 360 032.
