September 28, 2023OPINION: New wood waste regulations are no cause for panic
October 11, 2023Week in, week out, a fleet of unsung heroes hit the roads of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk to face skip delivery challenges that truly test their skills and determination.
SunSkips drivers take on some of the most challenging skip drop-offs and collections – and all in the name of getting the customer’s container exactly where they want it.
From tight spaces to narrow alleyways, is there no spot too difficult for a SunSkips driver to lower a skip into?
1. The SunSkips Squeeze
When a skip needs to be dropped off at a site where trailers and containers are already in place, drivers have to breathe in a bit to make their way around.
This skip collection shows what it really means to laugh in the face of adversity and get the job done, using the lorry’s 3.5m wheel span to great effect.

2. The Steady-Hand Straight
Driving such a large vehicle around the narrow streets of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk is a real test of skill at the best of times.
But Harry Sargent proves that SunSkips drivers have got what it takes to reach even the most out-of-the-way spots with this narrow lane manoeuvre.
If you think our drivers might face difficulty placing your skip exactly where you want it, let us know in your delivery notes so we can work out a solution. |
3. The Back-Alley Backup
Sometimes, SunSkips customers need skips to be delivered a little off the beaten track in areas that weren’t developed with lorries in mind.
But that never stops SunSkips drivers. With mere inches to spare on either side of the alley, this skip looks like it was dropped with surgical precision.

4. The Wing-Mirror Wiggle
For average drivers, backing a skip between these houses would require nerves of steel. But this was just another Tuesday for impossible drop-off extraordinaire Sophie Marshall.
Sophie’s knack for threading the needle has become second nature, earning her the admiration of her colleagues as the “Queen of the Road.”

5. The Slow Roll
The Queen of the Road returns! When she arrived to collect this brimming container wedged under scaffolding, Sophie knew she’d have to get creative.
To get this full skip out safely without causing any damage to the driveway, Sophie managed to roll it out on scaffolding tubes, using safety pads to cover the step up to the tarmac path. The customer was very impressed.

6. The “Get The Ruler Out”
Sometimes, checking your mirrors and blind spots isn’t enough, you have to get down on your hands and knees to gauge exactly how much space you’ve got to squeeze through.
SunSkips driver Rory Finn and his expert touch managed to get his lorry onto this driveway by a whisker, remaining cool under pressure as always.
SunSkips is proud of our skilled drivers that not only go above and beyond to place skips in tight spots for the convenience of the customer, they do it all to the highest standards of road safety.
