June 4, 2024From our humble beginnings as a local skip hire company, SunEnviro has exploded into a leading provider of sustainable waste management and demolition solutions.
And with the upcoming launch of our new state-of-the-art aggregate and soil washing plant in Thetford (coming this summer), we’re setting new standards for construction waste recycling in the East of England.
I never would have imagined we’d have grown to become the full-service environmental business we are today in such a short period of time. But while our journey reflects our commitment to the environment and the communities we serve, there’s another reason we’ve gone all-in on sustainability: it’s simply what people want.
A complete solution to the environmental enigma
The call for sustainability is louder than ever. Consumers, businesses, and regulatory bodies are not just asking for greener alternatives, they’re demanding them. They want to know that the companies they deal with are not contributing to the problem, but are part of the solution.
Integrated environmental solutions are not just a matter of ethical preference or regulatory compliance; they’re a strategic advantage in today’s marketplace. Businesses and individuals are increasingly recognizing that sustainability goes hand in hand with efficiency, innovation, and long-term cost savings.
And it’s a demand we’re more than ready to meet. SunEnviro has all the pieces of the jigsaw: demolition, containers, transport, recycling, access to the market for materials… This comprehensive array of services positions us uniquely in the industry, allowing us to handle every aspect of a project from start to finish. By integrating these key components, we ensure a seamless, efficient process that benefits our clients and the environment alike.
But many still shy away from sustainable solutions, overlooking the bigger picture in the process…
Demolishing misconceptions about sustainability
There’s a prevailing myth that adopting eco-friendly practices in demolition, construction, and waste management is a costly affair that compromises efficiency. Let me tell you, this couldn’t be further from the truth, and at SunEnviro, we’re living proof of that.
When we built our first waste management site from the ground up in Haverhill, we massively streamlined our operations, allowing us to work smarter, not harder. The modernisation of our sites enables us to rapidly and accurately separate materials, enhancing our recycling rates, with minimal waste sent to landfills.

This is a massive win for sustainability, but it also makes a lot of sense financially. Landfill taxes have been creeping up year on year, and for a good reason—to discourage unnecessary waste. By minimising the amount of waste we send to landfills, we’re not just doing our part for the environment; we’re also avoiding those hefty fees.

Investing in eco-friendly practices also opens the door to new business opportunities. There’s a growing demand from consumers and corporate clients alike for sustainable solutions. By leading in this space, we’ve not only attracted a wider client base but also set ourselves apart in a competitive market.
And that’s not all. Aggregate and soil recycling is about to open up an entirely new revenue stream for SunEnviro…
Turning rubbish into revenue
The launch of our new plant is a pivotal stride towards mitigating the need for new quarries that can disrupt local ecosystems and communities.
Our state-of-the-art equipment washes soil into a slurry, where the stone is ground against itself in water and then passed through various filters. This process allows us to extract stones in sizes ranging from 0-5mm to 20-50mm. The resulting clean aggregate has multiple uses, including cable bedding and drainage layers in construction projects.
By reintroducing high-quality materials back into the construction cycle, we are closing the loop on waste, creating a more sustainable and efficient system for managing resources.
For the local industry at large, SunEnviro’s new aggregate and soil washing plant will provide an affordable alternative to virgin materials. And selling these recycled materials creates a new revenue stream for us. Materials that would have cost money to dispose of are now bringing in income. We’re talking about turning a traditional cost centre into a profit-generating asset.

Whatever objections people may have about eco-friendly waste and construction solutions, SunEnviro is ready to crush them into tiny, profitable pieces.
Sustainable demolition was inevitable for SunEnviro
When we stepped into the demolition business after acquiring ADL, it wasn’t merely about business expansion. This move was a deliberate step towards integrating sustainability into the core of our operations at SunDemolition.
We saw an opportunity not just to dismantle structures but to fundamentally reshape the future of demolition across East Anglia and further afield. Being involved in the entire waste lifecycle, from generating the waste through demolition services to recycling the materials and providing them to new construction projects, means we’re able to ensure nothing is sent directly to landfill.
Our take is that every project is a chance to innovate and contribute positively to our communities. From our first service area in Stowmarket to the far reaches of East Anglia and now into Hertfordshire, Greater London and Essex, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s expected from an environmental services group.
The transition has been vibrant and dynamic. We’ve made several strategic staffing additions to make sure we have the skills and experience to deliver the high level of service people have come to expect from SunEnviro.

From the outset, we’ve aimed to be more environmentally friendly than most. But I can’t say this was the plan from day one. This evolution has unfolded organically, driven by a commitment to adding value not just to our clients’ projects but to the broader ecosystem as well.
But it’s clear that this holistic approach is why clients continue to trust us and recommend our services, knowing we handle everything from dismantling to recycling with the utmost care, ensuring minimal waste ends up in landfills.
And we’re not stopping there…
SunEnviro is always looking to the horizon
As we prepare for the future, SunEnviro isn’t just reacting to industry shifts and legislative changes. We’re staying at the forefront of innovation, ready to embrace and champion sustainable practices even further.
For example, we’re excited about the potential of AI and robotics in revolutionising waste sorting. These technologies promise to enhance our ability to separate and recycle materials with unprecedented precision.
We’re exploring how to integrate solar panels into our operations, significantly reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
Digital platforms, like our upcoming B2B client portal, present more exciting opportunities. By harnessing the power of data, we can optimise our operations, predict trends, and measure our impact with greater accuracy. This not only enhances operational efficiency but also allows us to communicate our progress and environmental impact with our stakeholders.
This proactive stance is not merely about compliance; it’s our responsibility and non-negotiable for England’s future. It’s part of our core values and according to our rapidly growing client base, it’s important to a lot of other people and businesses as well.
SunEnviro is proud to be pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the demolition and waste management industries. Stay tuned for the next chapter in the group’s journey to becoming more sustainable and contributing positively to the local area and the environment as a whole.
