August 12, 2021A new fleet of fuel-efficient lorries has arrived at SunSkips’ new Cambridge site as the skip hire firm continues to grow across East Anglia.
The vehicles – which are already in action in the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire area – are from the latest DAF range (CF and LF) and boast an extra 6-7% in fuel efficiency than previous models.
While the lorries’ reduced fuel consumption further boosts SunSkips’ commitment to environmentally friendly operations, they actually pack more power and torque than earlier DAF lorries, making them ideally suited for heavy-duty skip delivery and collection for commercial and construction waste clients.
SunSkips managing director Mathew Stewart was really pleased to see the new lorries arriving at the Cottenham recycling site – each with a fresh orange paint job.
He said, “The new lorries look really smart with the new SunSkips branding and we’re proud to have them out delivering and collecting skips in the Cambridge area.”
The new lorries have proved to be up to the task of delivering and collecting SunSkips’ inventory of more than 1,000 skips – another recent milestone highlighting the company’s capacity to provide a range of skip sizes even when customers need them delivered within tight deadlines.
The DAF CF, SunSkips’ hook loader lorries that ferry larger skips around Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, are built with heavy lifting in mind so are perfectly suited to waste management.
Meanwhile, the DAF LF is the chain lift model with PACCAR PX engines that are both economic and quiet, while being more than capable of transporting heavy loads of waste.
The LFs are also kitted out with well-designed interiors to make sure drivers are comfortable behind the wheel and get the best possible view of the road ahead.
New driver Sophie Marshall was over the moon to finally get behind the wheel of one of the new lorries after recently passing her HGV driving test.
All SunSkips vehicles leaving the site are cleaned down before they head off to prevent dust and grit spreading onto public roads (which are also routinely swept).
New SunSkips general manager Tim Reinman has been very busy making sure the new drivers are operating the vehicles correctly and adhering to the company’s high standards.
He added, “The rollout of the new lorries has gone very well so far. It’s really important to us that our customers recognise the SunSkips lorries and brand as a symbol of great customer service.”
