October 16, 2025SunSkips has unveiled a fresh fleet of bright pink skips in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – available for hire throughout October.
The initiative is designed to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer while giving local residents and businesses a highly visible way to show their support.
SunSkips’s familiar orange containers were transformed into an eye-catching pink thanks to a collaboration with CB Skip Services. The skip refurbishment team volunteered time and resources for the cause.
Anyone wanting to support the campaign can specifically request a pink skip. SunEnviro will also donate £500 to breast cancer research.
Paying tribute to those affected
This is the second time SunSkips has rolled out brightly coloured skips in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but this year, the containers feature a special touch close to the painter’s heart.
CB Skip Services director Chris Blom explained the inspiration behind adding extra touch to this year’s pink skips.
He said, “One of the guys that works for us does the spray painting, and when he heard what we were doing it for, he came up with the idea to paint the names of people in our community who have been affected by breast cancer.
“It makes each skip feel personal, and it gives families a chance to see their loved ones remembered.”
This year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month is shining a light on the role of diet and alcohol regulation is preventing breast cancer.
For SunSkips, the campaign represents more than just raising awareness. It reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, community involvement, and doing things differently in the waste management sector.
Mat Stewart, SunEnviro CEO, praised the collaboration between the two East Anglia firms.
He said, “This campaign is about showing our support for people in our community who are dealing with breast cancer and giving customers the chance to join us in that effort.”

Refurbishing for safety and sustainability
The pink skips are part of SunSkips’ wider approach to refurbishing old containers rather than scrapping them.
Containers get damaged, graffitied, or simply worn down from years of heavy use. But with a fresh coat of paint and refurbishing work, they become both functional and look great again.
By restoring skips, SunSkips saves money, reduces waste, and extends the life of equipment that would otherwise end up discarded.
“We refurbish at around a third of the cost of buying new,” said CB’s Chris. “Why buy a new bin when you can breathe new life into a perfectly good one?”
According to Chris at CB, safety sits at the heart of the refurbishing process, with teams working to smooth down edges and fitting new parts.
“It’s not just a makeover; we do thorough checks. This might mean replacing old latches to make sure every container is safe to use and transport,” he said.

A travelling advertisement with purpose
Chris added that once they’re refurbished and repainted, the skips also serve as “travelling adverts” for the business. With the pink campaign, however, they are doing double duty – advertising both the company and an important cause.
“Skips aren’t cheap to buy new. But with a great paint job, refurbished skips serve as a travelling advert for clients. And they look nice on people’s driveways too!” he said.
The pink skips have already started turning heads, and SunSkips hopes they will spark meaningful conversations within communities while directly benefiting charities that provide life-saving research and support services.
For anyone looking to hire a skip during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, requesting a pink skip provides the chance to contribute to a worthy cause while supporting a local business committed to making a difference.
