November 24, 2022SunSkips’ rapid growth in East Anglia has hit yet another milestone as the company announces its acquisition of Cooks Waste Kare Ltd in Ipswich.
While SunSkips has already been offering skip hire in Ipswich for some time, this new base of operations brings the company’s recycling and waste management services to an even wider part of the region.
Building on SunSkips’ strong East Anglia presence – with sites already established in Cambridge, Stowmarket and Haverhill – the Ipswich yard on Raeburn Road South opens up skip hire services to customers further east.
SunSkips managing director Mathew Stewart is thrilled to be moving SunSkips into a prime location in Ipswich, as well as to be able to keep things local and sustainable for the town’s customers.
He said, “Ipswich is an important part of SunSkips’ business, with lots of skip deliveries going out to customers every week, so it made a lot of sense for us to acquire Cooks and bring SunSkips closer to them.
“Cooks Waste Kare Ltd customers can count on a seamless transition to SunSkips’ simple, paperless ordering system, while loyal SunSkips customers in Ipswich can look forward to an even better level of service.”
The road to Ipswich
SunSkips was established in May 2020 with the opening of the first site in Stowmarket.
After investing in a solid digital booking platform designed to make the skip hire process as simple and hassle-free as possible for customers, the company quickly expanded to Cambridge with the acquisition of a site in Cottenham.
Then in the summer of this year, SunSkips Haverhill opened its gates – the first recycling facility of its kind in the town and the company’s first site built from the ground up to the strictest environmental standards.

And it doesn’t stop there! Following a significant minority investment in holding company Sun Environmental Services (SES) from May Capital, SunSkips also acquired a two-acre site in Thetford, with eyes on even more opportunities in the area.
May Capital founder and managing partner Noah Bulkin said, “May Capital is delighted to have made a further investment in SunSkips to support its second expansionary acquisition in the past two weeks.
“This Ipswich site will significantly extend the geographic coverage of our business, and with further planned capital investment, should enable continued growth from strength to strength.”
Mat added, “This has been a fantastic year for SunSkips!
“From the new Haverhill site to the acquisition in Ipswich, it’s so exciting to see people reacting to SunSkips’ unique brand of friendly customer service that we consider to be the most important part of what we do.
