May 5, 2023SunSkips has handed over another £5,000 cheque to Suffolk charity GeeWizz, this time to help a local youth theatre charity in Bury St Edmunds.
The money will go to SENsory Youth Theatre, a program for young people who identify as learning disabled, neurodivergent, having SEN (special educational needs), or other social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Katie Ewan, GeeWizz marketing executive, was thrilled to receive a second contribution from SunSkips after the Bury St Edmunds skip hire firm started working with the charity last year.
She said, “Once again, we want to thank SunSkips ever so much for the kind donation and support of GeeWizz.
“It has been extraordinary. SunSkips has helped, and is continuing to help, change local lives in Suffolk. We are so grateful!”

SENsory Youth Theatre offers classes for children from age 4 to 18 and uses creative play to build confidence and help them make friends.
David Whitney, head of creative learning at Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds, which runs the program, said the sessions are specially adapted to make them more accessible for the students.
He said, “We use both a verbal and nonverbal style of delivery, ensuring that sessions are as inclusive and as accessible as possible.
“We meet during school term times. We’d absolutely love to see new members here at Theatre Royal, and you can come to us safe in the knowledge that you are in the hands of a really experienced team.”
Mat Stewart, SunSkips managing director, was happy to hear that GeeWizz had chosen such a worthwhile local group to receive the funding.
He said, “SENsory Youth Theatre is a fantastic initiative to help get local kids involved in a fun extracurricular activity that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy.
“We’re glad we could help and hope to be more supportive in the future.”

Last year, SunSkips donated £5,000 to majority-fund a special wheelchair for a local teenager with cerebral palsy.
Ruby Bishop, now 18, dreams of becoming a wheelchair tennis champion, but needed the specialist chair to continue her journey to the top.
Since receiving the chair, Ruby has made fantastic progress building her career as a future tennis superstar.
She has reached a career-high ranking of 50th in the world for senior women and ended her junior career third in the world – and GB number one! She says the new chair has made a big difference.
SunSkips’ contribution to Ruby’s chair was also made through GeeWizz, which closed its doors in March this year after seven years of helping good causes in Suffolk.
Mat added, “We’re really glad to hear Ruby is doing so well and we will be following her progress.”
SunSkips is proud to support local causes across East Anglia and will continue to do so as the company grows across the region.
