November 12, 2021SunSkips staff wore their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on their sleeves last Friday when the whole team came into the office dressed in pink.
The special event culminates SunSkips’ month-long campaign in support of the worthy cause, which raised a total of £775 and saw the company spray a small supply of skips pink for anyone in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk that wanted to clear out their waste in style.
Staff rallied round to contribute £175.50, one valued client (SDW Services) chipped in £100, while the company itself boosted the funds with a further £500. Some sweet-toothed SunSkippers even brought in pink cakes as a special end-of-week treat after a heavy week delivering and collecting skips.
Mat Stewart, SunSkips managing director, was really pleased with how popular the campaign was and how much money the team managed to raise.
He said, “It’s been really well received in the community. Loads of people have stopped to comment on the pink skips.
“And I can’t deny that all those cakes were a very welcome Friday afternoon treat after a hard week running skips all over East Anglia!”
The team were inspired to make a big effort for Pinktober by Robert Neal from the SunSkips commercial sale team, who was keen to show the company’s values while out serving customers.
Rob said, “We’ve had a lot of people reach out to support our pink skip initiative.
“We weren’t sure how much interest we’d get, but we were pleasantly surprised by just how many people wanted one!”
In the UK, around 11,500 women and 85 men die from breast cancer every year. Early detection is one of the keys to successful treatment, so it’s important for both men and women to regularly check for lumps, as well as any changes in size, shape or texture.
Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for their research. By making a donation, you can help scientists continue working on finding a cure and fund clinical trials to develop new treatments.
Mat added, “SunSkips would especially like to thank Sam at SDW Services, who donated £100 to our fundraiser, despite not even booking a pink skip!”
