14 yard skip hire

As with the smaller 10 and 12 yard skips, 14 yard skips are designed to hold lighter, bulky materials. These skips are ideal for big building projects and larger scale house clearances.

These skips are not appropriate for heavy wastage such as earth or concrete. The 8 yard skip is the largest skip size that should be used for heavy materials.

Should I hire a 14-yard skip?

While 14-yard skips are often used for large building projects and house clearances, it’s important to bear in mind that they aren’t suitable for heavy construction waste.

SunSkips’ 14-yard containers are perfect for lighter, bulkier loads. The biggest skip available for soil and rubble is the eight-yard builders’ skip, unless you need to go much bigger, in which case a 20-yard or 40-yard skip would be most appropriate as they can be rolled on and off lorries.

A 14-yard skip is also a good choice for those disposing of confidential or flammable material - such as paper documents - as we’re able to provide enclosed containers at this size with lockable doors.

14-yard skip dimensions

A 14-yard skip can hold 120 black bin bags of waste or 18 standard trailers, so it’s a good choice of container if you’re getting rid of high volumes of lighter waste like clothing and soft plastics.

At 4.1m x 1.8m x 1.75m, it’s probably not going to fit onto a standard driveway, so you’ll have to make sure you have suitable private land for our driver to lower it onto.

Local authorities don’t always grant permits for skips bigger than eight yards to be kept on public roads due to concerns for traffic access and local parking, so be sure to check before you book (or request that we do it for you).

14-yard skip prices

For domestic skip hire, consult our locations pages for 14-yard skip hire prices in your area. For commercial or industrial use, get in touch for a quote as we may be able to offer a better deal for longer term hires for larger projects, or for those with single waste streams that require less screening.

If you’re still not sure whether you need a skip as large as 14 yards, call our friendly office team so we can help you make a decision - we’d hate for you to waste money on a skip too big for your needs, or end up not having enough space if you got a skip size that’s too small.

What you need to know before hiring a 14-yard skip from SunSkips

When dealing with such large containers, it’s important to make sure you’ve considered access around the area. SunSkips will not be able to deliver a skip to a site if there’s a danger of it blocking access to emergency vehicles or creating traffic problems.

Talk to our team if you think there may be challenges involved in delivering your 14-yard skip so we can work out a strategy ahead of time and ensure a prompt delivery.

If you plan on hiring a 14-yard skip for regular waste disposal, SunSkips may be able to help you streamline your processes to save you money and be more sustainable.

Once your skip has been collected, SunSkips will take it to one of our locations in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire where our site operatives employ stringent screening methods for sorting mixed waste to divert as much from landfill as possible.
